Throughout history, capturing the female form has been a timeless pursuit. Petter Hegre, inspired by his early experiences at the Brooks Institute of Photography and an internship with Richard Avedon, sought to define the feminine ideal through his lens. Now based in Paris and Barcelona, Hegre traveled extensively, ultimately discovering the enchanting landscapes of Tuscany. Over five years, he created over 100 photographs featuring twelve stunning models, blending the natural beauty of the Tuscan backdrop—elegant palaces, medieval structures, and olive groves—with the flowing contours of his subjects. Hegre's approach emphasizes authenticity, utilizing no artifice or accessories, resulting in a harmonious blend of classic and contemporary aesthetics. His work evokes a sense of timelessness, transporting viewers to a mystical realm. Working alone and primarily with natural light, Hegre’s models resemble ancient marble carvings, embodying tranquility and stillness. A significant portion of the photographs was captured at Villa Mangiacane, a restored 16th-century estate that enhances the ethereal quality of his images. Glynn Cohen's restoration of the villa and its gardens adds to the timeless atmosphere, making Hegre's collection a memorable homage to beauty and artistry.
