Answers to questions about life and love, fame and fortune, health and wealth are revealed in the I Ching (The Book of Changes), the central text in the ancient Chinese tradition of divination. Dating from 600 BC or earlier, its 64 pairs of trigrams (groups of three whole or broken lines), are believed to reflect the myriad and complex forces operative in any given situation; correctly interpreted they can clarify present or future events, offer subtle psychological insights, give direction and inspire action.
