Ironically, many designers of graphical user interfaces often lack awareness of the fundamental design rules and techniques used by other visual design practitioners. This volume emphasizes design principles derived from the rational, functionalist aesthetic found in modern graphic design, industrial design, interior design, and architecture, applying them to common GUI challenges in commercial software development.
