A translation of the German edition of 1990 (Georg Thieme Verlag, Stuttgart), the concept of this book is that of a "comparative atlas," making available the authors' own case material for scrutiny and comparison. The atlas is organized on the basis of frequently encountered symptoms and typical clinical investigations, with cases that have the same diagnosis but a different morphological presentation shown side-by-side. The relatively small size of some pictures reflects the editors' intention to use only the informative part of an image; however, a large percentage of the illustrations are full 1:1 reproductions of the original document.
