Nasan Tur (b. 1974) explores the political and social conditions of our time. His works serve as experimental arrangements that reveal ideologies, social norms, and behavioral patterns, expanding the possibilities for individual action. He examines expressions, gestures, and images found in media and public spaces, condensing them into miniatures of current societal crises and discourses. Central to his inquiry is how predefined roles influence us and when we are willing to transcend boundaries in the face of oppression, powerlessness, and manipulation to actively change societal patterns. This catalog accompanies an exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie and presents new works addressing issues of power dynamics and their legitimization. It poses questions such as: Why does humanity kill? What violence resides within us, and under what circumstances is it activated? Through the arrangement of his works, Tur creates images that express an ambivalent relationship with death and life, ranging from confronting inner demons to questioning hunters about the act of killing and the careful staging of lifeless animals in space.
