Ojedinělý soubor šumavských pověstí a legend vybraných z převážně německých knih z počátku století.

Best-known for his seminal sf novel NEUROMANCER, William Gibson is also a master of short fiction. Tautly-written and suspenseful, BURNING CHROME collects 10 of his best short stories with a preface from Bruce Sterling, co-Cyberpunk and editor of the seminal anthology MIRRORSHADES. These brilliant, high-resolution stories show Gibson's characters and intensely-realized worlds at his absolute best. Contains 'Johnny Mnemonic' (filmed starring Keanu Reeves) and title story 'Burning Chrome' - both nominated for the Nebula Award - as well as the Hugo-and-Nebula-nominated stories 'Dogfight' and 'The Winter Market'.
Here is Jim Morrison in all his complexity-singer, philosopher, poet, delinquent-the brilliant, charismatic, and obsessed seeker who rejected authority in any form, the explorer who probed "the bounds of reality to see what would happen..." Seven years in the writing, this definitive biography is the work of two men whose empathy and experience with Jim Morrison uniquely prepared them to recount this modern tragedy: Jerry Hopkins, whose famous Presley biography, Elvis, was inspired by Morrison's suggestion, and Danny Sugerman, confidant of and aide to the Doors. With an afterword by Michael McClure.
'Junk is not, like alcohol or weed, a means to increased enjoyment of life. Junk is not a kick. It is a way of life' William Burroughs, legendary drug addict, founder member of the Beats and author of Naked Lunch, relates with unflinching realism the addict's life: from initial heroin bliss to an unabated hunger for the needle, and the horrors of cold turkey and back again. An original, first-hand account which outraged 50s America, Junky remains one of the most raw and mesmerising accounts of heroin addiction ever written. The first great "Beat Generation" novel takes readers in the heart of bohemian post-war New York City in search of the origins of this literary movement, which included such innovators as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and Neil Cassady. Reprint.
The Nova Criminals, featuring terrifying characters like Sammy the Butcher and Iron Claws, threaten global destruction. Only Inspector Lee of the Nova Police can stop them by dismantling their word and image machine before it's too late.
In these uncollected writings Jack Kerouac portrays himself in his life. He hitches a ride to San Francisco with a blonde, goes on the road with photographer Robert Frank, rides bus through the Northwest and Montana, records the blues of an old Negro hobo, talks about the Beats and how it all began, gives his "Essentials of Spontaneous Prose" and defends his novel The Subterraneans, compares Shakespeare and James Joyce, describes the cafeterias and subways of Manhattan, goes to a ballgame and a prize fight, and reflects on Céline, on Christmas in New England, on Murnau's Nosferatu, on jazz & bop, and tells us what he's thinking about. And in the closing piece "cityCityCITY," we're treated to Jack's science fiction vision of the future."Table of Contents Robert Creeley: Thinking of Jack: A Preface On the Road On the Beats On Writing Observations On Sports Last Words cityCityCITY Editor's Note
Monografie legendární newyorské rockové skupiny z pera známého hudebního publicisty Victora Bockrise a všestranného konceptuálního umělce Gerarda Malangy přináší zasvěcený komentář k vývoji této vpravdě kontroverzní kapely, z jejíchž řad se rekrutovali pozdější sóloví hudebníci Lou Reed, John Cale nebo Nico. Autoři sestavili jakousi mozaiku z rozhovorů a názorů zúčastněných osob (k nimž oba patřili), která čtenáři umožňuje hluboký a především autentický vhled do celkové atmosféry pozoruhodného uměleckého kvasu New Yorku šedesátých let. Kniha je doplněna kapitolou o dočasném „znovuzrození“ The Velvet Underground v roce 1993, podrobnou diskografií a řadou dokumentárních fotografií.
Written during 1951-52, this novel was an underground legend by the time it was finally published in 1972. Written in an experimental form, Kerouac created the ultimate account of his voyages with Neal Cassady, which he captured in a different form for On the Road.
The Satanic Bible was first published by Anton LaVey in 1969. It is a collection of essays, observations and rituals, and outlines LaVey's Satanic ideology. It contains the core principles of the Church of Satan and is considered the foundation of the philosophy and dogma that constitute LaVeyan Satanism.
