Margaret Landon è stata una scrittrice americana diventata famosa per il suo romanzo del 1944 sulla vita di Anna Leonowens. Il suo libro divenne un bestseller immediato, vendendo oltre un milione di copie e venendo tradotto in numerose lingue. Landon in seguito vendette i diritti per un adattamento musicale che ispirò una celebre produzione teatrale. Pubblicò anche un'opera successiva che rifletteva sulle sue esperienze personali.
