Plant systematics discusses the most modern ideas and methodologies of plant systematics. The work is based on the concept of the tree of life – the idea that all forms of life are interrelated like the branches of a tree – focusing on vascular plants, particularly flowering plants, an important group that dominates most terrestrial ecosystems and is associated with medicines, ornamental plants, construction materials, fibers for paper or clothing, as well as the majority of our food.
