When the Trustees acquired Mary Arden's House they decided that the barns and outbuildings around the farmyard provided an ideal setting for the display of old farming implements and tools, which, together with other domestic items, illustrate many aspects of rural life in Shakespeare's Warwickshire from the tudor times on. Officially opened on 1 June 1989.

This is essentially a personal anthology, an offering of select passages of Shakespeare's works which over the years have given the Director of Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust for more than 40 years pleasure, inspiration and comfort.

The whole world has heard of William Shakespeared, pot & playwright, & of his birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon. Stratford is Warwickshire's oldest market town, & it is at the heart of Shakespeare Country, which stretches for twenty miles in all directions. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Englad. There are gently rolling fields, scattered woods, parks & orchards, small unspoiled villages, & towns with a long history - Shakespeare Country, surprisingly little changed from the time the poet knew & loved it, four centuries ago.
