Focusing on her dedication to anti-fascism and Ethiopian independence, Sylvia Pankhurst spent her later years editing a newspaper to combat Mussolini's invasion and advocating for Ethiopian rights. She condemned British appeasement of fascist regimes and supported Republican efforts during the Spanish Civil War. Pankhurst's activism included fundraising for medical facilities and promoting Ethiopian culture. After relocating to Addis Ababa in 1956, she continued her work by founding a journal on Ethiopian life, ultimately being honored with a burial alongside Ethiopian patriots.
This book is an historical investigative account of the history of the expanding and often nebulous borders of Ethiopia, beginning from ancient times to 1800. It deals with areas that have for years been contentious and problematic for the adjacent peoples in the region: Land of Bahr Nagash, Ifat, Adal, Fatagar, Dawaro, Bali, Damot, Gurage, Waj, Gamo, Ganz, Kafa, etc.
