Der englische Lyriker Alfred Edward Housman (1859-1936) ist im deutschen Sprachraum fast unbekannt. Das liegt unter anderem daran, daß er den Abdruck einzelner Texte aus seinem Gedichtzyklus 'A Shropshire Lad' nicht gestattete, was deren Aufnahme in Anthologien und damit ihre Verbreitung im nichtenglischen Sprachraum einschränkte.
