Seit Anfang 2020 veröffentlicht Arne Zank die Webtoonserie »Die Vögel« in sozialen Netzwerken. Gestartet als ein Übungsfeld und Motivationshilfe, um wieder mehr Praxis im Zeichnen zu bekommen, erwuchs daraus – beschleunigt durch coronabedingte Isolation – ein Berg an Folgen einer schier endlos laufenden Soap Opera. Diese Parodie eines Graphic Roadmovies mit Anklängen an den Verfolgungswahn des Film noir gibt es nun in gedruckter Form und erstmals komplett überarbeitet in Farbe. Den scheinbar harmlosen Figuren merkt man deutlich einerseits das Kinderbuch-Studium sowie andererseits die Punkrock-Sozialisation des Autors an.
