Gösta Knutsson è stato un produttore radiofonico e scrittore svedese, celebre soprattutto per la sua popolare serie di libri per bambini sul gatto Pelle Svanslös. Questo gatto dal cuore gentile, sebbene spesso ingenuo, a cui un topo aveva morso la coda da cucciolo, è diventato un personaggio amato della letteratura per l'infanzia. Knutsson ambientava le sue storie di gatti antropomorfi nel suggestivo contesto della città universitaria di Uppsala, popolandole con una serie di personaggi memorabili. Pelle Svanslös rappresentava l'alter ego di Knutsson, mentre altri gatti erano ispirati a caricature di persone a lui note, conferendo alle narrazioni un'originale combinazione di calore e arguzia.

Gösta Knutsson (1908-1973) - szwedzki radiowiec i pisarz, autor książek dla dzieci. W 1936 roku został dyrektorem progra-mowym Szwedzkiego Radia w Uppsali, gdzie pracował do 1969 roku. W 1937 roku przygotował audycję o kotku Pellem (w Polsce znanym jako Filonek). Dwa lata później przygody kotka bez ogonka ukazały się drukiem i z czasem weszły do ogólnoświatowego kanonu książek dla dzieci. Knutsson jest także twórcą postaci niedźwiadka Nallego (w Polsce jego przygody opublikowało Wydawnictwo `Nasza Księgarnia` w latach 60. XX wieku w tłumaczeniu Teresy Chłapowskiej).
