Literární vědci se shodují na tom, že Temné síly vycházejí z rané verze klasického Draculy. Následně byl román v podstatně zkrácené podobně přeložen do islandštiny, originál je však toto! Milovníci Draculy i noví čtenáři dostávají do rukou značně odlišný příběh se zcela novým koncem. Hrabě Dracula nehodlá pouze rozšířit upíří krev do celého světa, ale v rámci spiknutí se světovými mocnáři chystá nastolení fašistického světového řádu spjatého s uctíváním pohanských bohů při krvavých obřadech. A po draculovském hradu v Karpatech se prochází Bílá paní, neodolatelná kráska, která se svými polibky pokouší vlákat advokátního koncipienta Tomase Harkera do tenat zkázy.
