Japanese Warrior Prints 1646195 is the first publication in the English language devoted entirely to the most neglected of the major genres in the history of musha-e or images of warriors. These works recreate in vivid detail the tales of great heroes and battles of Japanese history, especially from the tenth through sixteenth centuries.

Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) was a pivotal figure in Japanese woodblock prints, especially known for his warrior prints. This publication showcases his diverse artistry, including images of beautiful women, kabuki actors, and humorous compositions. It features 136 prints, many previously unpublished outside Japan, with insightful texts on his life and work.
