Ma è proprio questo l'argomento della ricerca per la scuola che Anastasia deve preparare durante le vacanze invernali e quindi è d'obbligo pensarci su. Quella di fare la libraria, per esempio, non è mica una cattiva idea e così la nostra protagonista si prepara ad intervistare la gentile proprietaria della libreria "Pages". Ma qual è la strada più breve per diventare libraia? Secondo Anastasia, la risposta è una sola: un corso per modelle tredicenni che la faccia diventare sicura di sé e le insegni a truccarsi e a vestirsi. E, per quanto strano possa sembrare, il corso funzionerà davvero, anche se in modo del tutto diverso da quello previsto...

È proprio vero che i tredici anni sono un'età difficile? A giudicare da quello che succede ad Anastasia, pare di sì: i genitori, per esempio, le sembrano a un tratto insopportabili, una perpetua fonte di imbarazzo e di conflitto. E siccome nessuno la capisce, la nostra eroina si procura uno "strizzacervelli" tutto per sé (ovvero il busto in gesso del dottor Freud, padre della psicanalisi) al quale confidarsi. Funzionerà?
