Dvacáté století představovalo pro muže církve, kteří seděli na papežském stolci, velkou výzvu. Následovníci svatého Petra se museli vypořádat s neslýchanými hospodářskými krizemi, zhroucením starých říší, revolucemi, genocidami, nukleárními hrozbami, „neviditelnými" guerillovými válkami a novými náboženskými střety. V roce 1978 pak přišla velká změna. Nikdo tenkrát nepředpokládal, že neznámý duchovní, o němž se dlouho vědělo jen o málo víc, než že je prvním neitalským papežem za pět set let, zcela změní tvář katolické církve, a dokonce dá nový směr dějinám jako nikdo před ním. Tento výjimečný polský papež, mírumilovný, avšak neústupný, přispěl k zhroucení sovětského impéria a východního bloku, setkal se se svými „protivníky" od Jásira Arafata po Fidela Castra a jako první osvědčil dostatek odvahy a pokory, aby nejen připustil omyly katolické církve v dobách dávných i zcela nedávných, ale také aby za ně prosil o odpuštění nejen Boha, ale i lidstvo.

Back then, he entered Formula 1 with the IndyCar Title and a name - son of the great Gilles Villeneuve, who died in his Ferrari in 1982. With his temperament, character, determination and genius, he has emerged from his father's shadow and pushed the name Jacques to the fore. From Estoril in Portugal, where in Autumn 1995 he made his first track run at the wheel of his Williams Renault, to his second season in Fl, Jacques Villeneuve has gained the recognition his individual style deserves.
