Tom je jej prostredné dieťa, má staršieho brata a mladšiu sestru. Matka je Francúzska, Parížanka. Otec Angličan, Londýnčan. Pracovné povinnosti ho nútia sťahovať sa s rodinou z jedného konca sveta na druhý. Tri roky žijú vo Vancouveri, potom sa sťahujú do Sydney. A tam sa to stane: tam prídu o Toma.
