As World War II entered its later stages and Germany was forced increasingly onto the defensive, the need for fast-moving mobile forces lessened and the Wehrmacht required better protected and more powerfully armed tanks. Publikace představuje jeden z nejpočetnějších a nejúspěšnějších německých tanků nasazených ve druhé světové válce. Detailně jsou představeny varianty řady IV, která sehrála stěžejní roli zprvu při podpoře pěchoty. Přestože se pak objevily novější tanky Panther a Tiger, PzKpfw IV nadále tvořily páteř německých tankových jednotek až do konce války. Až do roku 1942 byly PzKpfw IV vyzbrojeny krátkohlavňovým kanonem 7,5cm KwK L/24, poté byl do nich zabudován kanon ráže 7,5 cm a staly se hlavním tankem ve výzbroji tankových divizí, Panzer Divisionen.
