Ilon Wikland è un'acclamata illustratrice il cui stile artistico è stato affinato attraverso studi a Stoccolma e in altre città europee. Il lavoro della sua vita è intrinsecamente legato agli scritti di Astrid Lindgren, per i quali ha creato illustrazioni iconiche profondamente ispirate dall'atmosfera dei testi. Wikland possedeva una straordinaria capacità di catturare visivamente l'essenza delle storie, dando forma a personaggi indimenticabili. La sua vasta collezione di illustrazioni originali è stata donata all'Estonia, a testimonianza del suo unico contributo alla letteratura per l'infanzia.
