This first English translation of the original manuscript shows Magellania to be a unique, forceful novel that widens the scope of Verne’s literary legacy.

En octobre 1899, Jules Verne achève ce roman que lui inspire l'auri sacra fames, cette " maudite soif de l'or " qui fait alors des ravages. En dépit de tous ses efforts, l'écrivain ne verra pas Le volcan d'or publié de son vivant. Après sa mort, son fils Michel entreprend de récrire le livre, mais grâce à Piero Gondolo della Riva, célèbre collectionneur et vice-président de la société Jules Verne, est présentée ici la version originale du Volcan d'or. La seule authentique.
