    Fred Saberhagen è stato un autore americano di fantascienza e fantasy, noto soprattutto per le sue storie di "Berserker" e Dracula. Le sue opere esplorano frequentemente il conflitto tra l'umanità e le macchine, addentrandosi in temi oscuri e mettendo in discussione la natura della vita e dell'intelligenza artificiale. Saberhagen ha anche creato ampie serie di romanzi post-apocalittici mitico-magici e sword and sorcery, che esaminavano battaglie tra il bene e il male ed esploravano archetipi eroici.
