After a number of personal tragedies, Maria, a young interpreter from Ukraine, comes to England in search of a change. Full of energy and determination, she believes in herself. Over a period of a few months in London she experiences the destruction of her illusions, faces a troubled jobless life and the neglect of a foreign society. In an effort to break this desperate circle, she starts a modelling career and achieves some success which finally leaves her with a hard choice between moral and material values. Thus, wishing to stay by a man she fell in love with, Maria leaves London and moves to a little village. Consequently it brings her another, bigger disappointment and a very important final decision...
