Who among us hasn't wondered what awaits us after we die? Do we simply cease to be, or is death a doorway to another realm? Venerated scholar Geddes MacGregor embarks on a journey from the ancient Middle East to modern America, seeking insight into the mysteries of life after death. We explore Zoroastrianism, Jainism, Chinese religion, and Islam, delving into concepts like Karma, rebirth, and reincarnation. The philosophical and theological debates surrounding the afterlife are examined, along with accounts from those who recall past lives or claim to have experienced worlds beyond during near-death experiences. MacGregor illustrates how questions about the afterlife have been posed and answered throughout history and across cultures. Through his interpretation of traditional concepts such as heaven, hell, purgatory, and nirvana, he suggests that our spiritual well-being seeks not just eternal bliss but ongoing growth. Humanity's yearning for life after death reflects our acknowledgment of purpose in the cycle of existence. MacGregor concludes that our beliefs about God influence our views on the afterlife. Ultimately, the shared belief in an afterlife hints at a grand design by the Creators, urging us to reflect on what awaits us in "the life everlasting" and appreciate our journey in this lifetime.
