Autor se vydává do Lipnice po stopách slavného spisovatele Jaroslava Haška. Navštěvuje místa, kde Hašek často pobýval, rozmlouvá s lidmi, jež se s ním setkali a i díky jejich podání udává na správnou míru mnohé historky, jež se o Haškovi tradují. Jednotlivé kapitoly tak popisují a komentují Haškův pobyt na Lipnici takřka den po dni. Druhou část knihy tvoří několik Haškových povídek, jež napsal právě na Lipnici.
