Ruth Achlama, geboren 1945 in Quedlinburg, studierte Rechtswissenschaft in Heidelberg und Bibliothekswissenschaft in Jerusalem. Heute ist sie hauptberuflich als freie Übersetzerin tätig und lebt in Tel Aviv.

S. Yishar (eigentlich: Yishar Smilansky), geboren 1916 als Sohn russischer Einwanderer in Rechovot/Palästina, arbeitete als Landwirt, Lehrer, Universitätsprofessor und war sechsmal Knesset-Abgeordneter. Er veröffentlichte zwei Romane, vier Bände mit Kurzgeschichten und mehrere Kinderbücher. Sein 1958 erschienener Roman «Tage von Ziklag» machte ihn zur moralischen Instanz einer ganzen Generation und wurde literarisch mit Günter Grass’ «Blechtrommel» verglichen. Er starb 2006 in Sderot.
