Maggiori informazioni sul libro
Prayer at Taize is primarily sung, employing various musical forms throughout the year, including hymns, psalms, responses, and litanies, either a cappella or with organ accompaniment, along with songs from the Orthodox tradition. The 'songs of Taize' are particularly notable, having been developed in the 1970s to facilitate collective prayer among a growing number of young people from diverse backgrounds. These songs were introduced to the English-speaking audience in the 1980s through Music from Taize 1 & 2, followed by Songs and Prayers of Taize in 1991, which provided English translations for many songs, and Songs for Prayer in 1998. Christe Lux Mundi features principal songs composed since then, primarily by the Community's brothers, with no overlap with earlier titles. It is available in two editions: the vocal edition includes congregational parts and solo verses in English, while the assembly edition contains only the congregational parts. Taize songs embody two key elements: they are meditative, fostering a contemplative prayer experience, and they encourage participation from everyone involved.
