    Napsat Dluh krve nebylo mým původním záměrem, protože jsem považovala příběh za uzavřený s koncem Spojení krve. Po čase jsem však cítila potřebu prozkoumat Vickiin nový život a změny ve jejím světě. Velkým rozdílem bylo, že Henry se usadil ve Vancouveru, což znamenalo, že Vicki a Mike museli za ním. Tato změna je zbavila vnitřního spojence, a v případě potíží byli odkázáni sami na sebe, přičemž většinu problémů si způsobili sami. Krevní pouta se zaměřují na vztahy mezi hlavními protagonisty a metafyzické záhady, a protože jsem v Dluhu krve vyřešila jejich vztahy, neplánuji další knihy o Vicki Nelsonové, kromě sbírky povídek nazvané Krevní banka. V této sbírce se opět objevují soukromá detektivka Vicky Nelsonová, detektiv Celluci a upír Henry Fitzroy, levoboček anglického krále Henryho VIII.
