Je podezření, že klobouk může obsahovat důležité dokumenty, se kterými oběť vraha vydírala. Jen díky Elleryho skvělé a rozsáhlé dedukci na základě chybějícího klobouku se mu podaří vraha dopadnout.

Frenchův obchodní dům je známý exkluzivitou nabízeného vzácného zboží pro svou elitní klientelu.
