George Moore

    George Augustus Moore fu un romanziere, scrittore di racconti, poeta, critico d'arte, memorialista e drammaturgo irlandese. Inizialmente aspirava a diventare un pittore e studiò arte a Parigi negli anni '70 dell'Ottocento, stringendo amicizia con importanti artisti e scrittori francesi. Come naturalista, Moore fu tra i primi autori di lingua inglese ad assorbire le lezioni dei realisti francesi, in particolare di Émile Zola. La sua opera influenzò profondamente James Joyce ed è spesso considerato il primo grande romanziere irlandese moderno.
