Maggiori informazioni sul libro

"Green Hills of Africa" is a record of a hunting expedition in East Africa that Ernest Hemingway undertook from December 8, 1933, to February 17, 1934. Accompanied by his wife, Pauline Marie Pfeiffer, friend Charles Thompson, and professional hunter Philip Percival, the narrative also features an Austrian guest, Kandisky, who provides an opportunity for discussions about life and literature. The journey takes the author from the Serengeti plains in Tanganyika to the foothills of Kilimanjaro in Kenya. However, this is not merely an exciting hunting tale filled with lions and tigers. The author reflects on his maturation, moving beyond the youthful exuberance of his earlier years and grappling with his wartime experiences. Amid personal and economic crises, he seeks new direction for both his spirit and literary work. As he states in the preface, he attempts to write an absolutely truthful book to explore whether the reality of human actions over one month, when presented honestly, can rival the creations of imagination.
