Object oriented and mixed programming paradigms

Maggiori informazioni sul libro

The field of computer graphics is rapidly evolving due to advancements in hardware and software, such as new rendering methods, leading to diverse applications in scientific visualization, multimedia, computer-aided design, and virtual reality. This evolution increases the complexity of graphics algorithms and systems, making it challenging for application programmers to fully leverage these technologies. Traditional programming methods are inadequate for managing this complexity, necessitating new programming paradigms and system architectures. A significant advancement in this area is the adoption of object-oriented methods, which align well with the nature of graphical entities as objects. Object-oriented software techniques enhance the expressiveness of programming languages, providing graphics application developers with better tools to translate their ideas into code. Additionally, object-oriented development promotes the creation of reusable and extensible software components. This collection features selected, reviewed, and revised versions of papers presented at the Fourth Eurographics Workshops on Object-Oriented Graphics, held in Sintra, Portugal, from May 9-11, 1994.
