In just about a decade, Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software has transformed from a minor element in software development to a recognized phenomenon that demands significant rethinking of development approaches. Various sectors have reached different stages of COTS adoption; some are just beginning to embrace COTS solutions, while others have developed well-matched applications for their needs. However, large-scale applications still challenge developers to adapt traditional architectures and processes to integrate complex, evolving COTS products. The International Conferences on COTS-Based Software Systems (ICCBSS) serve as a vital forum for developers, suppliers, and researchers to discuss and address COTS-based software system (CBSS) challenges. This year's theme, “Matching Solutions to Problems,” reflects this goal. We are fortunate to feature three distinguished keynote speakers, David Carr, Tricia Oberndorf, and Douglas Schmidt, who have made significant contributions to analyzing and improving CBSS solutions. The contributed papers and summaries of workshops, panels, and tutorials in these Proceedings provide valuable insights into the evolution of CBSS challenges and solutions. Based on my experience with previous ICCBSS Proceedings, I believe you will find enduring value in this content.
