Demographics indicate a significant rise in older adults across many countries, often discussed through overly optimistic or pessimistic lenses, with few alternatives suggested. This study introduces a radical theory proposing that this historical moment offers older adults a chance to drive social and political change by forming a new social movement. It explores whether education can serve as a catalyst for organizing such a movement. The analysis reviews relevant literature, historical social movements, and the challenges of initiating an organized effort, including overcoming inertia, sectional interests, generating leadership, and fostering innovative educational processes. Empirical research was conducted through interviews with leaders of organizations focused on older adults, aiming to draw conclusions related to the central research question. This study challenges the prevailing medical and economic perspectives on aging that shape government policy and public attitudes. It targets professionals in higher and further education, educators in adult education, as well as politicians, political theorists, editors, journalists, and advocates against ageist stereotypes.
