Set in the mid-1960s, this play explores a morning in the life of artist Henry Faulkner in his Key West studio. The plot unfolds as Henry convinces his houseguest, Hollis, to bring his girlfriend Eva to Jack, a sailor longing for companionship. Hollis, feeling guilty after accidentally harming Henry's cats, becomes increasingly anxious about the situation when Eva and Jack take too long upstairs.
