Veränderung gilt als raison d'être helfender Berufe in Beratung, Psychotherapie, Coaching, Medizin oder Physiotherapie. Die helfenden Interaktionen in den genannten Berufen und die dadurch initiierten und realisierten Veränderungen werden in und durch das Gespräch zwischen den AgentInnen und den KlientInnen / PatientInnen hervorgebracht. Bei diesem Band handelt es sich um eine der ersten Publikationen, die Zugänge zur qualitativen linguistischen Veränderungsforschung in helfenden Berufen bündeln und systematisieren. Pragmatik der Veränderung analysiert und beschreibt das Ko-Konstruieren von Veränderung mikroanalytisch auf der Basis authentischer Gesprächsdaten. Insbesondere werden interaktive Momente und Praktiken identifiziert, in denen Veränderung angestoßen, umgesetzt oder konstatiert wird. Der Band legt so eine theoretische, methodologische und empirische Systematisierung der linguistischen Veränderungsforschung in helfenden Berufen vor.

English Studies in Flux: New Peaks, New Shores, New Crossings map out a dynamic topography not only of the new Europe, but also of the area of English Studies within this new Europe, both of which are in a state of flux. Indeed, the articles in this volume are ample testimony to the scalings, discoveries and translocations which characterize current Anglistics in its new-found mobility and multidisciplinarity. Furthermore, the Contributors to this volume constitute themselves a personified microcosm of the new Europe and the new English Studies, representing as they do a transnational region of southern Central Europe encompassing four sovereign states and their associated intra-national border regions. In parallel, ‘transdisciplinary’ Anglistics is represented here in its various ‘sub-regions’ of the theory and practice of linguistics, literary and cultural studies, including translation, Language study and their associated didactics. New peaks are scaled in the sub-disciplines, new shores are discovered beyond them and new crossings are charted between them. The book offers a representative sample of current work in European English Studies and will be of interest to researchers, teachers, and students alike.

The ubiquity of space in human thought and Language has inspired research in many fields for centuries. One central question has been how children learn the Language of space. Detailed findings on how specific spatial expressions are acquired during the very first years are available. However, little effort has been made to come up with a holistic picture of the development of space in Language. This book is such an effort. It is inspired by cognitive linguistics, embodiment theory and interactionist approaches to Language acquisition and invites its readers to go on a developmental journey from infants' preverbal spatial experiences to their early and later stages of spatial Language acquisition. In addition to extending the time span into adolescent and early adult years, the study includes both literal and non-literal instances of space. By concentrating on categories of space rather than on their linguistic correlates, it is possible to link the different developmental phases and to focus on a range of spatial configurations in Language as wide as possible.

Dem Ruf nach fundierter Forschung zu Beratung, Coaching und Supervision folgend, sind in diesem Band einige der neuesten Ergebnisse zur Beratungsforschung aus der Perspektive verschiedener Disziplinen – beispielsweise der Sprachwissenschaft, der Sozialwissenschaften, der Psychologie und der Erziehungswissenschaft – sowie Impulse aus der Praxis vereint. Auf dem Weg zu einer Forschung, in der die Disziplinen Ergebnisse nicht mehr nebeneinander, sondern miteinander generieren, wird zwischen den einzelnen Beiträgen ein Netz gespannt und so gezeigt, wie reichhaltig bereits jetzt die Grundlage für die gemeinsame Arbeit ist. Diese Vernetzung soll sowohl Forscher/innen, die sich mit den Formaten Beratung, Coaching und Supervision beschäftigen, wie auch Vertreter/innen der Praxis Anregungen geben und zu einer gemeinsamen Arbeit inspirieren. Denn interdisziplinäre Forschung kann nur in einem echten Austausch auf Augenhöhe fruchtbar sein.
