In den Industrieländern wird Übergewicht immer größeres Problem. Übergewicht betrifft nicht nur Erwachsene, sondern in zunehmendem Maße auch Kinder. Es hat Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit und auf die Lebensqualität der Betroffenen. Das Problem des Übergewichtes ist im Kindesalter sehr aktuell, und die Sportwissenschaftler können viel in der Prävention tun, deshalb wurde dieses Thema gewählt. Bei der Entstehung des Übergewichtes im Kindesalter spielt neben der genetischen Disposition auch der Lebensstil eine wichtige Rolle. Mittels Fragebogens wurde untersucht, ob es einen Unterschied zwischen dem Lebensstil von normal- und übergewichtigen 12-14 jährigen Kindern gibt. Der literarische Teil beschäftigt sich allgemein mit dem Problem des Übergewichtes. Im experimentellen Teil werden die von den Schülern gegebenen Antworten statistisch analysiert und eine Vielzahl von möglichen Einflussfaktoren auf den Gewichtsstatus gewonnen. Mit Hilfe der Ergebnisse werden Schlussfolgerungen und Empfehlungen für das gesundheitliche Verhalten der SchülerInnen, besonders für das der übergewichtigen SchülerInnen formuliert.
