Parallel computer routing and communication

Maggiori informazioni sul libro

This workshop continued the PCRCW ’94 focus on parallel communication and routing issues essential for parallel processing. It serves as a platform for researchers and designers to discuss challenges in supporting communication for high-performance parallel computing. Recently, interconnection network technology has expanded beyond traditional multiprocessor systems to include high-availability clusters and system area networks. New application domains, such as real-time video and online data mining, are generating unique requirements for interconnection network services. The rise of quality-of-service guarantees in these areas poses challenges to existing network design approaches. Recent trends emphasize low-latency software layers, the application of multicomputer interconnection technology to distributed shared-memory multiprocessors and LANs, and a shift towards commodity clusters and standard components. There is an ongoing evolution towards powerful, affordable network interfaces and cost-effective, high-speed routers and switches from commercial vendors. The workshop aimed to tackle these issues in the context of networks of workstations, multicomputers, distributed shared-memory multiprocessors, and traditional tightly-coupled multiprocessor interconnects. The PCRCW ’97 workshop featured 20 regular papers and two short papers on modern interconnection networks and was hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology, spo
