Since the publication of the enterprise data model by Scheer in the late eighties, the interdependence between organizational structure, data and process models, and information technology infrastructure has become increasingly important. This relationship is now widely recognized as vital for driving enterprise success, making the design and implementation of integrated system landscapes a crucial task for both Business and Information Systems disciplines. In 2011, the Centers for Very Large Business Applications (CVLBA) in Magdeburg and Munich enhanced their involvement in this area, solidifying their research leadership in integrating business transactions into large business applications. Very Large Business Applications (VLBA) have been a research focus at Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg and Technische Universität München since before the CVLBAs were established in 2006.
