I want to express my sincere thanks to all authors who submitted research papers to support the Third IFIP International Conference on Computer and Computing Technologies in Agriculture and the Third Symposium on Development of Rural Information (CCTA 2009) held in China from October 14–17, 2009. This conference was hosted by several organizations, including the CICTA (EU-China Centre for Information & Communication Technologies, China Agricultural University) and various national agricultural and engineering societies. The event was supported by key sponsors, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Education of China. CICTA focuses on the research and development of advanced technologies in agriculture and promotes international collaboration. It has successfully organized three International Conferences on Computer and Computing Technologies in Agriculture. With sustainable agriculture being a global priority, the application of information technology in this field is increasingly vital. Many countries are now pursuing ‘informatized agriculture’ to scientifically manage agricultural practices, aiming for reduced costs and increased profitability.
