The Canary Islands, one of the largest volcanic archipelagoes in the world, harbor the greatest variety of volcanic landforms, emplacement processes and lava compositions anywhere. They represent unique volcanological field textbooks. Major features include spectacular calderas and great ash flow fields, impressive landslide scars and giant debris avalanche deposits.
