Between 1960 and 1990, young Cuban academics were sent to East Germany for their studies to fulfill their social obligations. Their education at East German universities embodied the principles of proletarian internationalism, with clear hierarchies and directives for knowledge transfer. Upon their return, these "forjadores del futuro" became key figures in the socialist development of Cuba. This study delves into the planned cultural exchange through educational migration, utilizing eyewitness accounts and archival materials. The author conducts a thorough analysis of documents and transcripts to explore the complex memory processes surrounding the preparation, execution, and aftermath of this cultural interaction.
