In 1857 a brand new propeller-driven, steam-powered, iron-hulled lighter was launched at Kelvin dock, Maryhill. Named Glasgow, she is regarded as the first puffer. A colection of photographs and accompanying text takes the reader from their birth to their demise in the 1990s.
