Clara Louise Burnham was a prolific American novelist known for her diverse works, starting with her successful debut, No Gentlemen, in 1881. Burnham's influence extended to film, with her 1903 novel Jewel inspiring the 1923 movie A Chapter in Her Life. She spent her final years in Maine, where she passed away in 1927.
