The book is an in-depth, impartial, study of one of the more controversial issues in contemporary American society - What relationship did the Founding Fathers expect to exist between Religion and the State? The Founding Fathers first had to be identified; this was done by searching out those responsible for the two major documents that define the United States of America today - The Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Then, the words and deeds of these men were studied to determine their position on this issue as clearly and thoroughly as possible. The conclusion follows from what they said and did.
