    Dopo i bellissimi Libri delle stagioni, Rotraut Susanne Berner, nella medesima cittadina, fa scendere la notte rivelandoci un mondo notturno, segreto, preziosissimo, tutt’altro che immobile e silenzioso. È arrivata la notte. Dormono tutti, anche gli animali. O almeno così sembra. Alcune luci sono rimaste accese e questa tranquilla notte estiva brulica di persone, gatti, gufi, cani e minuscoli dettagli. C’è chi legge in biblioteca, chi festeggia al parco, chi monta la tenda in giardino, chi ha rubato il cappello di Susanne, chi si dimentica di accendere il fanale della bicicletta e chi vola senza sosta.
