Autore dell'introduzione, della sceneggiatura, nonché dell'appendice cronologica e bibliografica e del dizionario dei termini fondamentali è Domenico Tarizzo, scrittore, saggista, autore di numerose opere sulla società industriale avanzata, esperto di questioni psicoanalitiche e sociali. Le tavole a fumetti sono di Massimo Mariani, milanese, nato nel 1946; ha studiato all'Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera; dal 1971 espone i suoi quadri e le sue composizioni verbo-visuali in diverse gallerie, in Italia e all'estero (Centro Tool, Nuova Sfera, Museo della Scienza e della Tecnica, Galleria San Fedele, a Milano; Collegio Cairoli, a Pavia; Museo d'Israele, a Gerusalemme; Anderson Gallery a Richmond - Virginia; Barnaby Art Gallery, Vancouver eccetera). L'interpretazione che Mariani propone in queste tavole (frutto di oltre due anni di ricerca e di sforzo creativo) dell'avventura psicoanalitica è suggestiva, inquietante, ma non prevaricatrice. La presenza di moduli stilistici espressionisti che, rivisitati in maniera personalissima, tanta parte hanno nella poetica di Mariani, è perfettamente coerente, infatti, con l'atmosfera e gli ambienti culturali nell'ambito dei quali la "rivoluzione" psicoanalitica si viene compiendo; così come l'adozione, inusitata per il fumetto, di mezze tinte acquarellate ben risponde all'esigenza di una resa surreale della dimensione onirica.
