Fiable et valide, il fait l’objet de recherches continues. Outil puissant, il est prioritairement employé par les professionnels de la santé mentale pour l’évaluation, le diagnostic et l’établissement du traitement. Considéré comme un test objectif de personnalité par les professionnels, le MMPI-2 est en fait plutôt un questionnaire multidimensionnel de psychopathologie. Il permet l’évaluation d’un éventail très large de troubles, d’attitudes, de traits et de comportements tant dans les populations normales que pathologiques. Bien que ce test soit largement utilisé, les livres de référence et sources écrites en français à son sujet sont rares. Ce manuel pratique est le plus exhaustif à destination des praticiens francophones. Il vise à leur présenter le MMPI-2 et ses conditions d’utilisation. Il reste ensuite à encoder les réponses dans l’ordinateur. Les consignes sont un moment important d’échange entre le patient et l’examinateur.
