It examines the impact of prolonged fog on air and road traffic, leading to accidents and fatalities due to poor visibility. Analyzing 30 years of meteorological data from ten weather stations, the research identifies significant temperature and humidity changes during fog events. Findings indicate that daytime temperatures drop while nighttime temperatures rise, with mean temperatures remaining below 15.5 degrees Celsius, allowing for accurate predictions of dense fog occurrences within 24-48 hours.

This book focuses on early germination, one of maize germplasm most important strategies for adapting to drought-induced stress. Some genotypes have the ability to adapt by either reducing water losses or by increasing water uptake. Drought tolerance is also an adaptive strategy that enables crop plants to maintain their normal physiological processes and deliver higher economical yield despite drought stress. Several processes are involved in conferring drought tolerance in maize: the accumulation of osmolytes or antioxidants, plant growth regulators, stress proteins and water channel proteins, transcription factors and signal transduction pathways. Drought is one of the most detrimental forms of abiotic stress around the world and seriously limits the productivity of agricultural crops. Maize, one of the leading cereal crops in the world, is sensitive to drought stress. Maize harvests are affected by drought stress at different growth stages in different regions. Numerous events in the life of maize crops can be affected by drought stress: germination potential, seedling growth, seedling stand establishment, overall growth and development, pollen and silk development, anthesis silking interval, pollination, and embryo, endosperm and kernel development. Though every maize genotype has the ability to avoid or withstand drought stress, there is a concrete need to improve the level of adaptability to drought stress to address the global issue of food security. The most common biological strategies for improving drought stress resistance include screening available maize germplasm for drought tolerance, conventional breeding strategies, and marker-assisted and genomic-assisted breeding and development of transgenic maize. As a comprehensive understanding of the effects of drought stress, adaptive strategies and potential breeding tools is the prerequisite for any sound breeding plan, this brief addresses these aspects
This book presents a new topology of the non-isolated online uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system consisting of 3 components: bridgeless boost rectifier, battery charger/discharger, and an inverter. The online UPS system is considered to be the most preferable UPS due to its high level of power quality and proven reliability against all types of line disturbances and power outages. The new battery charger/discharger reduces the battery bank voltage, which improves performance and reliability, while a new control method for the inverter regulates the output voltage for both linear and nonlinear loads. The proposed USP system shows an efficiency of 94% during battery mode and 92% during the normal mode of operation.

Ziel der Studie war es, die Faktoren zu untersuchen, die die Leistungen der DAE-Studenten (Diploma in Associate Engineering) im Fach Englisch beeinflussen. Es gibt einige Faktoren, die zu den Leistungen von Englischlernenden beitragen. Schülerfaktoren, Familienfaktoren, Schulfaktoren und Peer-Faktoren sind externe Faktoren, während Alter, Geschlecht, geographische Zugehörigkeit, ethnische Zugehörigkeit, Familienstand und sozioökonomischer Status zu den internen Faktoren gehören. Für diese Studie wurde ein Umfragedesign gewählt und für die Datenerhebung wurde ein geschlossener Fragebogen verwendet. Die Daten wurden aus einer Stichprobenpopulation von 6 technischen Instituten (2 öffentliche und 4 private) im Bezirk Lahore erhoben. Mit Hilfe eines mehrstufigen Stichprobenverfahrens wurde eine Stichprobe von 653 Personen (70 Lehrer und 583 Schüler, männlich und weiblich) ausgewählt und die Daten mit Hilfe von SPSS analysiert. Die Ergebnisse der Studie werden praktische Überlegungen zur Änderung des Lehrplans, der Methodik, der Materialien und der Praktikumsmethoden für Ingenieurstudenten liefern. Die Studie wird auch neue Wege für zukünftige Forscher eröffnen.
