Die Analyse der Wirkung von Task-based Instruction (TBI) und Teacher-fronted Instruction (TFI) auf das Lernen von kongruenten und nicht-kongruenten Kollokationen steht im Mittelpunkt dieses Buches. Es wird untersucht, welche Methode fortgeschrittenen Lernenden signifikantere Fortschritte im Verständnis von Kollokationen ermöglicht. Während beide Ansätze nützlich sind, zeigen die Ergebnisse, dass fortgeschrittene Lernende TBI bevorzugen, während bei den mittleren Lernenden eine klare Vorliebe für den lehrerorientierten Unterricht besteht. Das Buch beleuchtet somit die unterschiedlichen Präferenzen und deren Einfluss auf das Kollokationswissen.
